Add an Account to an Account List

You can easily add any object such as an opportunity to an Account-based List. (Learn more about List types.) You can add the a List object in several ways:

You can associate Contacts with the Account at the time you create the List object, as well as apply any existing Account Contacts to your new List object.

Note: You can also add a List object to a Contact-based list.

Add a List Object to a New Account from the Grid view

  1. Open the List to which you want to add an object.
  2. Click Add [list object] in the upper-right corner.
  3. On the screen that appears, enter the name of the Account you want to add as a List object.
  4. Click Create new account [name] at the bottom of the list.
  5. Enter the name of the List object—for example, the opportunity name for an Opportunities List. This is the name that appears in the Grid view.
  6. Do one of the following:
    • To add one or more Contacts to the Account, enter the Contact name in the Add a new contact field.
    • If you don’t want to add any Contacts to the Account at this time, check the box. You can always come back and add Contacts to both the Account and the Opportunity at a later time.
  7. If you selected the option to add Contacts to the Account, a list of suggestions appears. Do any of the following:
    • To add all the suggested Contacts—Click Add all X suggested contacts at the bottom of the suggestions list.
    • To add some of the suggested Contacts—Hover over each Contact you want to add and click + to the right of the Contact name.
    • To add different Contacts: Enter the Contact in the search field and click + to the right of the Contact name when it appears in the search results.
    Any Contacts you add to the Account are automatically added to this List object as well.
  8. Click Add.

Add a List Object to an Existing Account from the Grid view

  1. Open the List to which you want to add an object.
  2. Click Add [list object] in the upper-right corner.
  3. On the screen that appears, enter the name of the Account you want to add as a List object.
  4. Select the Account from the list of matches.
  5. If multiple Accounts exist for the Account you selected, they are displayed. Click the one you want to use.
  6. Do one of the following:
    • If a List object doesn’t yet exists for the Account you selected—Enter the name of the List object—for example, the opportunity name for an Opportunities List. This is the name that appears in the Grid view. It can be the same as or different from the Account name.
    • If one or more List objects already exist in your List for the selected Account—The objects are displayed. To edit an existing object, click it. To add a new object, click Add a new [List object] for this account.
  7. If you added a new List object in step 6, or if you selected an existing List object that has no Contacts associated with it, do one of the following:
    Note: If you selected an existing List object that has Contacts associated with it, skip to step 9.
    • To add one or more Contacts to the Account, enter the name of the Contact in the Add a new contact field. Continue with step 8.
    • If you don’t want to add any Contacts the Account at this time, check the box. You can always come back and add Contacts to both the Account and the Opportunity at a later time. Skip to step 10.
  8. If you selected the option to add Contacts to the Account, a list of suggestions appears. Do any of the following:
    • To add all the suggested Contacts—Click Add all X suggested contacts at the bottom of the suggestions list.
    • To add some of the suggested Contacts—Hover over each Contact you want to add and click + to the right of the Contact name.
    • To add different Contacts—Enter the Contact in the search field and click + to the right of the Contact name when it appears in the search results.
    Any Contacts you add to the Account are automatically added to this List object as well. After you finish adding Contacts, skip to step 10.
  9. If you selected an Account in step 6 that already has Contacts associated, all of the associated Contacts are displayed. In addition, if you click in the search field, a list of suggested Contacts appears. Do any of the following:
    • To add all of the existing Contacts associated with the Account to your new List Object—Check the Show all box at the top of the list of Contacts.
    • To associate only some of the Contacts currently associated with the Account—Check and uncheck the boxes to the left of the Contact names to select and deselect them.
    • To add all the suggested Contacts—Click Add all X suggested contacts at the bottom of the suggestions list.
    • To add some of the suggested Contacts—Hover over each Contact you want to add and click + to the right of the Contact name.
    • To add different Contacts—Enter the Contact in the search field and click + to the right of the Contact name when it appears in the search result.
  10. Click Add.

Add a List Object to an Existing Account from the Account Profile page

  1. Click at the top of the screen, and then select Accounts.
  2. Click the Account you want to add as a List object.
    Note: You can also enter the Account name in the search field in the upper-right corner of the SalesforceIQ screen, and then select the Account you want from the search results.
  3. On the Account Profile page, click Add to List.
  4. Click the List you want.
  5. Do one of the following:
    • If a List object doesn’t yet exist for the Account you selected—Enter the name of the List object—for example, the opportunity name for an Opportunities List. This is the name that appears in the Grid view. It can be the same as or different from the Account name.
    • If one or more List objects already exist in your List for the selected Account—The objects are displayed. To edit an existing object, click it. To add a new object, click Add a new [List object] for this account.
  6. If you added a new List object in step 6, or if you selected an existing List object that has no Contacts associated with it, do one of the following:
    Note: If you selected an existing List object that has Contacts associated with it, skip to step 9.
    • To add one or more Contacts to the Account, enter the name of the Contact in the Add a new contact field. Continue with step 8.
    • If you don’t want to add any Contacts the Account at this time, check the box. You can always come back and add Contacts to both the Account and the Opportunity at a later time. Skip to step 10.
  7. If you selected the option to add Contacts to the Account, a list of suggestions appears. Do any of the following:
    • To add all the suggested Contacts—Click Add all X suggested contacts at the bottom of the suggestions list.
    • To add some of the suggested Contacts—Hover over each Contact you want to add and click + to the right of the Contact name.
    • To add different Contacts—Enter the Contact in the search field and click + to the right of the Contact name when it appears in the search results.
    Any Contacts you add to the Account are automatically added to this List object as well. After you finish adding Contacts, skip to step 10.
  8. If you selected an Account in step 6 that already has Contacts associated, all of the associated Contacts are displayed. In addition, if you click in the search field, a list of suggested Contacts appears. Do any of the following:
    • To add all of the existing Contacts associated with the Account to your new List Object—Check the Show all box at the top of the list of Contacts.
    • To associate only some of the Contacts currently associated with the Account—Check and uncheck the boxes to the left of the Contact names to select and deselect them.
    • To add all the suggested Contacts—Click Add all X suggested contacts at the bottom of the suggestions list.
    • To add some of the suggested Contacts—Hover over each Contact you want to add and click + to the right of the Contact name.

  9. Click Add.
